David McBride is a strategic finance and accounting executive focused on helping organizations improve performance and profitability, strengthen financial processes and decision-making, and solve complex business challenges at various stages of growth. His industry experience spans retail, distribution and transportation, supply chain, technology, automotive, and specialty retail and services.
David’s approach is highly collaborative. He works alongside leaders to understand the business, clarify issues, evaluate options, and work through and resolve performance issues with clear analysis and practical recommendations.
His diverse background includes senior finance and internal audit roles at Walmart, where he supported supply chain, transportation, logistics, and global technology. While leading a multi-year transportation finance initiative, David improved fleet efficiency, increased cases delivered per mile by 45%, reduced operating costs by over $1B and ultimately enabled Walmart to meet its public commitment to double its private fleet efficiency by 2015. He also served as global project director for Walmart’s initial Sarbanes-Oxley implementation, which was completed on time and under budget. David also served for over 10 years on Walmart’s Retirement Planning Committee, representing the interests of over one million plan participants.
Most recently, David served as CFO of Music & Arts, a mid-market division of PE-backed Guitar Center serving the music education and specialty retail markets. During his tenure, the business increased sales by 25%, while he helped improve margin visibility, cash flow management, and capital deployment.
