James “Jim” Powers has more than 35 years experience in financial management, accounting and auditing, tax planning, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate development. His background includes twenty years in public accounting, five years with Ernst & Young and fifteen years as founder and senior partner of his own firm. Jim also spent fifteen years in the telecommunications and internet service provider industries, as Manager of Acquisitions for a publicly held internet service provider.
Experience
Jim’s experience encompasses a wide range of activities. He has founded and successfully operated his own businesses, advised small to mid-sized business on the financial and accounting aspects of creating, acquiring, operating and selling a business, and managed the M&A efforts of a $1.2 billion publicly held company. Jim has closed thirty acquisitions (with annualized revenues of $22 million) and was responsible for all pre-acquisition activities including financial and operational due diligence, valuation, contract negotiations and deal closing. He has also worked with medical practice management, manufacturing, financial services and technology companies.
